Inkjet Printer Cleaning & Maintenance Tips

Ink Quality

Lower quality ink can greatly reduce the printer's functionality and cause printer hardware issue. Most printer manufacture will suggest customers to use genuine ink cartridges. Beware if you printer's warranty will be automatic void if you use replacement ink cartridges under warranty period.

Nozzle Checking/ Printer Heads Cleaning

These options may be separate or seen as one option depending the make and model of your printer. If you get broken lines you will need to do a head cleaning and nozzle checking. Ink can dry and create clogged nozzle when left unused over a period of time. Symptoms of a clogged nozzle include printouts that have gaps or white streaks in the printout. You will find those options either on the printer control panel or under the printer properties on your PC.

Printer Head Alignment

If print outs appear misaligned, you can fix this by running a print head alignment from the printer control panel.

General Cleaning

Paper dust can interfere the electrical connection problem within your printer. To remove the dust, unplug your printer and clean the printer head's electrical contacts with alcohol. Make sure that it dried completely before reinstall the ink cartridges.
